Madden 2006 Sells 1.7 Million Copies in One Week

Posted: 08/19/2005 - 04:00 AM, LessThanJake
The Madden Franchise has always been a giant amoung sports games, however it reached new heights this year by selling 1.7 million copies during its first week on the shelves, a feat never achieved by the series before. This may have to do with the fact that Electronic Arts purchesed exclusive rights to make games based off the NFL, making it the only available football game on the shelves.

Quote:
According to EA, this year's edition of the gridiron game is proving to be the most successful in the franchise's sixteen years. The new numbers, internally tracked by EA, bring the total copies of Madden-branded games sold to more than 45 million.

As Madden continues its domination over the video game world, one can only wonder if it will ever collapse.
